Small Body Guitars
GSR F-40
3856610

Introduced in 1954, the F-40 Valencia was one of the original Guild flat-top models. Its unique Grand Orchestra body shape features a wide 16" lower bout and a narrow shoulder area (upper bout) that results in a guitar that is incredibly well-balanced, responsive and versatile. This limited special run version of the F-40 model pairs a solid Carpathian spruce top with solid Cocobolo back and sides to create an elegant and refined guitar with a strong and beautiful voice.

Carpathian spruce (Picea abies) is a superior tonewood that comes from Europe's Carpathian mountains. With an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and a slightly brighter tap tone than some other types of European spruce, Carpathian spruce is considered by many to be the ultimate top wood for guitars. It has a strong, clear voice with exceptional resonance that results in a touch sensitive and dynamic guitar.

Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa) is a beautiful tropical hardwood that grows along the Pacific seaboard of southern Mexico and Central America. A true rosewood, it is highly prized for its rich and complex tonal properties and its distinctive grain pattern and color. Its warm, robust sound and black-streaked brown-red color have led many to compare it closely to Brazilian rosewood.

You will be stunned by how these exceptional tonewoods respond with the F-40's unique shape and dimensions to create one of the most amazing-sounding and visually striking Guild guitars to date!

Other special features include ivoroid body binding, Cocobolo headcap with pearl logo, ebony fingerboard with pearl "G" inlay at the 12th fret, ebony bridge with bone "Parisian eye" bridge pins, abalone rosette, custom gold Gotoh® open-back tuners with engraved buttons, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Each guitar includes a hand-tooled Guild® leather strap and a Planet Waves® soundhole humidifier. A tortoise pickguard is also included in the case if you wish to install a pickguard on the guitar (professional installation is recommended).
